Travel Blog: New England
Almost exactly a month ago, Teddy and I wound down a whirlwind trip to New England that spanned four cities in six days. I started the trek up north a day early and visited one of my best friends in her new spot in Brooklyn. Teddy joined a day later, and we filled our time in The City with a series of New York firsts for me: One World Trade, Chelsea Piers, 1500 calories worth of pepperoni pizza at the legendary Rubirosa, and a touristy jaunt down the Highline. Other highlights included but were not limited to matcha tea pit stops, an overdue catch-up with old friends in Washington Square Park and testing the limits of both my liver and my wallet with $16 specialty cocktails.
After our jam-packed few days in New York, Teddy and I caught a Megabus to Providence - and when I say caught, I mean we literally sprinted six blocks to the bus in Chelsea and were still the last people to board (so much side-eye). In Providence, we stayed in a charmingly quaint duplex in a somewhat charmingly rundown area of town. I'm fairly certain the Historic Society plack on the front door stated the home was built in 1883 and to maybe not visit the bodega down the street past 10 p.m. I made up that last bit but both are true statements. Also in Providence: 1500 more calories from Italian food that was so, so worth it. I'm still about five Flywheel classes away from working off the extra lb's from this trip and I'm not even mad about it because if you're going to carry around extra weight, it should definitely be from too much pistachio gelato.
The next morning, Teddy and I hopped in our rental and made our way to Newport - a gorgeous land of wealth, clam chowder, and Seersucker. This is the point of the trip when it dawned on me that I should maybe use my brand new Nikon instead of letting it dangle around my neck while I added to my Snap story for the umpteenth time. Here are a few of the images I caught. Spoiler alert: none of them involve Hiddleswift, unfortunately.
